J Harper Clarke writes atmospheric thrillers with teeth, heart, and a deep suspicion of anyone who says, “Trust me.”

She is currently working on The Black Paw Files, in which Cameron Shaw, a widowed accountant with a quietly dangerous dog, races to expose a covert program that developed weaponized K9s.

Harper’s work lives somewhere between mystery, thriller, and near-speculative conspiracy, with a particular fondness for dry humor, morally gray choices, and characters who are doing their best while wading knee-deep through chaos and classified bullshit.

She writes under a pen name, partly for privacy and partly because it sounds cooler. Both reasons are valid.
